LE COSTA RICA
Costa Rica was discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1502 and was governed by the captaincy general of Guatemala until it freed itself from Spain in 1821 and became independent. For investors it is now one of the most attractive countries in the world due to its outstanding geographical and geological situation and its extremely sound democratic institutions.
On an isthmus between North and South America, a strip of land separating the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, the country is divided into three main regions:
The volcanic Cordilleras mountain range culminating at 3819 metres. The Caribbean coast.
The Pacific coast.
These different areas offer an incomparable variety of landscapes and lifestyle options. The “Ticos”, another way of saying Costa Ricans, are widely held to be generous, helpful and very xenophile. Apart from the discovery of breathtaking scenery with views stretching from the Pacific to the volcanic mountains and from the rainforests to the lava plains, Costa Rica offers new settlers a wealth of leisure activities such as rambling and horse-riding, surfing, windsurfing, mountaineering, exploring imposing natural sites such as the Poas volcano with its acid lake and flights over the forest canopy. The diversity of its flora and fauna, including 900 species of birds, 1200 species of butterflies and quantities of exotic animals, has prompted Costa Rica to make a huge effort to establish national parks and leverage a proper environmental policy. This is why corporate and private investors will find environment-friendly collective and individual facilities in all areas of development: large zones for luxury hotels, golf courses or private properties scattered over magnificent countryside with superb views of the ocean. With this sociological and geographical basis, the government strives to offer incentives to make Costa Rica very affordable for corporate investors and private individuals who plan to settle there. Midway between the United States and South America, Costa Rica is in a unique situation joining two continents and offering endless possibilities for human and geographical discovery. Last but not least, living standards and social protection of the same level as in Europe make this Central American gem an ideal place to live a different life in exciting conditions.

COSTA RICA: LIFE IN A NEW WORLD
. Whether you are a tourist or retired, whether you are looking for a holiday or a new place to live, Costa Rica offers an incomparable range of things to discover:
. Its situation on an isthmus (1290 kilometres of coastline) puts the Pacific and the Atlantic 1 hr 45 min away by plane; it has mountains culminating at 3820 metres, magnificent forests, wonderfully diversified fauna and an endless choice of places to see. The great respect ordinary Costa Ricans and their government have for the environment ensures the pleasure of discovery never wanes and allows the boldest to satisfy their desire for extreme sensations by windsurfing, mountaineering, rafting, scuba diving, trekking, etc.
. The geology of Costa Rica is of unusual richness:
The Cordilleras mountain range offers unique sensations with the acid lake of the Poas volcanic crater. The Caribbean coast with its lava plains and the Pacific coast better suited to seaside tourism enjoy scenery of a variety rarely seen elsewhere.
. 25% of Costa Rica is devoted to national parkland abounding with 1200 different species of butterflies; the reefs swarm with tropical fish and sea turtles and the land with reptiles such as geckos and iguanas and over 900 species of birds, including of course the yiguirro, national bird of Costa Rica.
. The country's bid to attract new settlers is underpinned by its social and political stability and by the geographical organisation of holiday and residential sites. This makes it a region mainly focused on ecotourism with a natural opening towards the USA - it is on the same dateline as Chicago and Dallas - and a direct sea route to Europe and Asia. The capital San José has a population of 2 million and enjoys all modern conveniences. OCEANE, founded by Costa Ricans, will take charge of all the formalities for your installation.
